Code based authentication set up

Once your account is approved, please follow these instructions to set up your access to the PPMS equipment calendars and Stratoboxes:

  1. Make sure you have Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator ready on your mobile phone
  2. Log in to your PPMS account on a computer
  3. Under "Book a system" click on "Systems Available"
  4. Select the Stratobox Demo (1209)
  5. You will see a QR code
  6. In your authenticator app, scan the QR code
  7. Enter the six-digit code that appears in the authenticator in the field below the QR code in your PPMS account
  8. With this completed, you now have a PPMS account in your authenticator which you will use to enable equipment via the Stratoboxes

This is a one-time task that will enable you to use the Stratoboxes for all CNM2 equipment.  You will not need to do this again.

Code based authentication reset

If you already had access to equipment at other core facilities, you will likely have to reset your code-based authentication.

If you do not see the QR code on the Stratobox Demo booking page:

  1. Go to Profile
  2. Scroll down and click on "Setup or configure code-based authentication"
  3. Click Reset
  4. Repeat instructions for Code based authentication set up

Enabling/disabling equipment with the Stratoboxes

Stratobox
  1. Go to the equipment location in the lab.  You will see a Stratobox positioned near each tool. 
  2. Open either Google or Microscoft authenticator app on your mobile device
  3. Use the Stratobox keypad to enter the code associated with your PPMS account followed by the # sign to enable the tool. 
  4. When you are finished using the equipment, press * and then # to disable the tool.
