Workforce Development
CNM2 offers photolithography workshops and demonstrations intended to give attendees an introduction to microfabrication and a hands-on microfabrication processing experience inside a real cleanroom. CNM2 staff members lead the workshops providing explanations of the equipment and materials used in a basic photolithography process. The workshop is tailored to the age and background of the workshop attendees so that everyone gains valuable knowledge and experience.
We welcome attendees from all backgrounds including:
- Middle school and high school students (accompanied by teachers)
- K-12 educators
- Industry professionals seeking introduction to microfabrication
- Undergraduate students, graduate students and post docs
This is a great opportunity for K-12 educators to bring the cleanroom experience back to their classrooms and provide inspiration to K-12 students for potential careers in the semiconductor industry while learning about the processes that are used to build real computer chips. Attendees are welcome to take photos and video during the workshops and attendees can bring the processed wafers home with them as a souvenir!
Workshop pricing and duration vary with the number of attendees and number of wafers the group would like to process. For example, a group of four people processing two wafers will take around two hours in the lab. A group of eight people processing four wafers will take around three hours in the lab. We can provide a customized quote to fit your group size and desired level of hands-on microfabrication experience. The hands-on process steps will be divided equally among the group members.
Advanced workshops are also available.
