Our research group's work focuses on cutting edge research on the design and implementation of analytical sensors -- especially chemical sensors. We occupy ~1,000 ft2 of dedicated laboratory space on the main University of California, Davis campus. Research Interests: non-invasive clinical diagnostic tools, sensor system development for precision agriculture, Â microelectromechanical (MEMS) devices, nanotechnology manufacturing methods, biodefense, new materials for MEMS/NEMS applications, mechanical and bioinstrumentation design, bioinformatics and machine learning approaches for data analysis.
Since July 2003, Dr. Horsley has been a member of the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at UCD where he is continuing to work on precision-controlled micromechanical devices. Research Interests: Micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), Optical MEMS Sensors, Mechatronics and automatic control.
Our goal is to use flame synthesis of nanomaterials that offer useful optical properties in a manner that is efficient and scalable to industrial production. We have a strong interest in collaborating with the biological sciences to understand the impact of nanomaterials on living systems.
Our goal is to develop a new generation of ultrasensitive optical sensors for biomarkers of disease, markers of environmental exposures to toxins, pathogens in our food and in our bodies. Our research is an amalgam of material science, instrumentation, optics and biology. Research Interests: Nanotechnology, nanoparticle synthesis, biosensors, aerosol formation, health effects of aerosols.
